THE RINGLEADER of a gang who punched and kicked a man unconscious in a mass brawl has been jailed.
Reuben Campbell-Maasz was part of three car loads of men from Oxford who descended on Abingdon town centre after hearing a friend’s girlfriend had been assaulted.
But as the group drove along Ock Street at 2am on May 27 last year a man leaving Stratton’s nightclub hurled a plastic glass at the convoy and the cars pulled over and attacked him and his friends.
Campbell-Maasz, of William Lucy Way, Jericho, admitted affray, three counts of causing actual bodily harm and breaching a suspended term of imprisonment and was sentenced at Oxford Crown Court on Monday.
Recorder Simon Blackford sent the 19-year-old to a young offender institution for a total of 16 weeks.
In June Carl Webster, 18, of Croxford Gardens, Kidlington; Charles Powell, 20, of Harpes Road, North Oxford; Paul Dalton, 19, of Gordon Road, Bournemouth, and Kevin Smith, 21, of Wyatt Road, North Oxford, admitted affray in relation to the same incident.
And Daniel New, 20, of School Court, Jericho, and Marcus Zwarycz, 21, of Oxford Road, Bletchingdon, admitted using threatening words or behaviour to cause a fear of violence.
