The Olympic Games gave Rail operator Chiltern Railways a boost with 797,000 people travelling to London during the event, 9.5 per cent up on the same fortnight last year.
The firm laid on extra trains and made significant changes to its timetable to ensure services ran smoothly.
Over the two weeks it provided more than 238,000 extra seats, and ran 360 extra trains.
