Sir – The theme of the London Olympics was to inspire a nation and they certainly did.

Sport in Britain as a whole is in a very good place right now. August 4 is being claimed as one of the best days in British sporting history, seeing a total of six gold medals, including inspiring performances by heptathlete Jessica Ennis, runner Mo Farah and Greg Rutherford in the long jump; a great achievement.

The Olympics will hopefully encourage children all over the nation to one day reach the Games themselves.

Our youth will be inspired to participate in a sport that they enjoy, from school teams all the way to Olympic hopefuls.
