PLANS to knock down a housing block and replace it with flats and student rooms will be back in front of councillors in October.

Oxford City Council ’s west area planning committee voted to put off their decision on A2Dominion’s proposal for Luther Court. The housing association wants to build a new block comprising 42 flats and 82 student study rooms.

Councillor Colin Cook proposed the deferral, and requested that the developer came back with an alternative colour scheme after the plans were criticised for their potential to spoil the view of the city from afar.

Artist impressions of some of the buildings currently depict them in a bright blue colour.

Mr Cook said: “To say this will not impact on the view in these colours really stretches the imagination.

“Can we ask the applicant to come back with a more sympathetic colour scheme.”

A2Dominion confirmed it was aiming to have the plan ready for October’s committee meeting.
