A WOMAN whose fighting dog clamped its jaws around a toddler’s leg and “shook him like a doll” has had her sentencing adjourned.
The 21-month-old boy needed an operation under general anaesthetic and will be scarred for life after the incident.
Dog owner Victoria Betnay, of Benouville Close, Cowley, has admitted four charges at Oxford Magistrates’ Court and was told previously she could be jailed.
The court was told one of her two dogs, described as of a ‘pit bull-type’ breed, bit into the boy’s right leg during the incident in a park off Brasenose Driftway, Cowley, Oxford.
The boy suffered three deep puncture wounds to his lower calf and another wound to his thigh. He needed an operation but will be permanently scarred.
Betnay, 42, admitted two charges of allowing a dog to be dangerously out of control in public causing injury and two charges of possessing a fighting dog.
The case was adjourned until August 29 for pre-sentence reports to be prepared.
