RESIDENTS gathered in New High Street last night to celebrate the Headington shark’s 26th birthday.
Neighbours gathered to celebrate the anniversary with a street party.
The 25ft fibreglass shark, called Untitled 1986, was erected in the roof of 2, New High Street on August 6, 1986, by radio presenter Bill Heine. A planning row lasted several years until Secretary of State Michael Heseltine allowed it to stay in place.
