ART lovers will be descending on North Hinksey this weekend for Oxford’s first outdoor art fair.

It will see 40 artists from all over the UK showing off their work at The Fishes pub.

In total there will be more than 100 different works of art available to buy tomorrow and on Sunday.

Organiser Joelle Dinnage said: “It began life around six months ago and a lot of work has been going into it since then.

“I am really looking forward to it. We have had so much interest even from artists from as far as New York looking to exhibit.

“There will be live music throughout the weekend and children’s entertainment as well.

“Oxford has no other outdoor art fair and a lot of people like to go to them, especially in the summer.

“Some galleries can be a little bit stuck up but this will be really laid back.”

As well as music there will be an outdoor bar, picnic baskets, face painters and balloon artists.

The main event will be held in a large marquee in the pub’s garden. Ms Dinnage, 27, said: “We are hoping for good weather so we are keeping our fingers crossed.”

Art on sale ranges from sculpture to photography.

Ms Dinnage, an art consultant who lives in Botley, is hoping this will be the first of many outdoor art fairs in Oxford.

She said: “After this I would like to speak with the council and see if we can do a much bigger one next year.

“Maybe we can hold it in South Park. There is lots of ambition in this event.

“I decided to set up the fair because I am at a moment in my life where I had to do it now or never.

“I have been living here for six years and I have always been into art and The Fishes were more than happy to help me out.”

Entry to the fair, which runs from 11am to 8pm tomorrow and 11am to 5pm on Sunday, is free. For more information, see theoxfordartfair.com
