SAUSAGE lovers across Oxford will be celebrating as one of the city’s most eccentric restaurants prepares to reopen.

Restaurateur Max Mason, pictured, says that The Big Bang will be back in business at the end of this month.

He spent ages trying to find the perfect home for his eatery, which serves bangers and mash, and has finally settled on a unit in Oxford Castle .

The 36-year-old said: “I am really looking forward to it. The unit I have found is an exciting space which has never been used to its full potential.

“I am excited about bringing back a restaurant which has been very fondly regarded in Oxford.”

Until last August Mr Mason’s restaurant was in Jericho but was forced out when the site owner was granted permission to redevelop it.

The Walton Street restaurant had been serving up sausages since 2004 but is being turned into six shops and 41 student rooms.

Mr Mason said: “The last space was only ever meant to be a temporary measure.

“When I closed, it was in the hope of finding the perfect space, and I started talking to the owners of Oxford Castle about eight months ago.”

An opening date has yet to be announced.
