In 1936, on a school outing, I visited the Cowley works – the intense activity was an unforgettable experience.
In 1940, I was given a 1934 Morris Minor that cost £40. Fuel at that time was about two shillings a gallon, with Russian Oil Petroleum two pence cheaper. Insurance was £4 annually.
Sixteen years later, after a service of considerable reliability (despite carrying out service and repairs myself!), I sold WV 5637 for £60 in Salisbury.
I wonder what has happened to this little green car – I would wish I had it now! I have never had a car to equal it for reliability and durability.
