A THIEF posed as a plain clothes police officer to search a foreign student’s bag before stealing two mobile phones, cash and headphones.
The offender, described as white, about 6ft tall, and aged between 35 and 45, told the student he would give them back in an hour but never did.
The incident happened in Woodstock Road, Oxford, at about 5.30pm on Monday.
Pc Rachel Wood from St Aldate’s police station said: “Officers not in uniform need to show a warrant card before searching an individual.”
