JAMES Styring (On Yer Bike, Oxford Mail, August 7) says: “There is no precedent of cyclists killing or seriously injuring pedestrians in Oxfordshire.”
Perhaps he didn’t notice the report (Oxford Mail, June 7) this year about a cyclist ignoring a red light and knocking over a 71-year-old woman, who suffered a broken wrist and chipped teeth, among other injuries.
Mr Styring is typical of many arrogant cyclists who think they are entitled to ride anywhere, without consideration for other road users.
Heaven help us if such people are allowed to cycle in Queen Street.
Styring says that: “Queen Street’s daytime closure to bikes is a problem because the detours are long.”
Has it not occurred to him that he can get off and push his bicycle the short distance down Queen Street?
