A BID to build two homes on the former Grove House Club site in North Oxford has been launched.

Members of Oxford City Council ’s west area planning committee will look at plans for two, two-bedroom homes on the site in Grove Street, pictured.

The new application has been recommended for approval by planning officers, and is due to be considered next Wednesday, August 15, at the Town Hall. A report to members said: “The proposal is considered to make a more efficient use of a brownfield site, in a manner that would be appropriate and sympathetic to the character and appearance of the area and the amenities of neighbouring properties.

“The development would create an acceptable residential environment and housing in an area of housing need.”

Six objections have been received, including invasion of privacy, loss of light, the height of the proposal and over-development in the area, as well as access and parking pressures.

An appeal has also been launched against the refusal of another application for housing on the site. Members of the public have until September 11 to comment on that application.
