BLENHEIM Palace gardens were transformed into a medieval battleground by the Knights of Royal England.
Around 8,000 people descended on the Woodstock attraction at the weekend to witness chivalrous acts of jousting, falconry displays and archery.
Knights galloped at full pelt to meet face-to-face with a three metre lance and only a shield and helmet for protection.
Hannah Payne, spokesman for Blenheim Palace, said: “The jousting tournaments take place twice a year at Blenheim Palace and are always a firm favourite with our visitors.”
