REGARDING restrictions being placed on Blue Badge holders’ parking in High Street, Witney, one only has to look at the width of the pavement outside Boots/Co-op to realise that the problem has been caused by the pavement being widened to an excessive degree (Oxford Mail, August 1). Why not give the designated parking places on the opposite side of the road to the disabled instead of the managers of the shops? Oxfordshire County Council ’s Owen Morton claimed: “No designated disabled parking lots have been removed.”

That’s all very well if you can walk from these disabled spaces to the High Street. It is clear discrimination against the disabled from a council that proudly proclaims its anti-discrimination policies. GLYN LIMMER, Roosevelt Road, Long Hanborough
