A CONSULTATION into changes to Oxford City Council ’s Barton West scheme will begin today.
Residents will have until September 7 to put their views forward on the alterations to the plan which came out of the hearing last week.
This includes removing the requirement of having homes facing on to the A40 and the decision not to lower the speed limit to 40mph.
Oxfordshire County Council had objected to these proposals on the basis that the A40 is a strategic road through the county. It projected that planned pedestrian crossings across the ring road would lead to more accidents, and this was also dropped.
Planning inspector Shelagh Bussey had said she was concerned about the proposals and would declare the Barton Area Action Plan unsound if nothing was done about it.
After the consultation finishes the plans will go before a full meeting of the city council and Dr Bussey will hold more hearing sessions.
