Sir – I’m really pleased the west area planning committee turned down the application for a hotel at Redbridge as reported last week. The proposed Travelodge hotel was much too large, had nowhere near enough parking and would have loomed over a sensitive gateway to Oxford. The park and ride is needed for commuters from very early in the morning. But we are desperately short of hotel rooms in Oxford and we do want many more people to stay and enjoy our wonderful city. So I hope Travelodge will think again and submit a smaller application with more parking which we can agree. Something which reflects the Egrove Close flats across the road could be a positive addition.
