To assist in improving reading standards in our schools, the county council should see to it that every child should have an eyesight test in their first year at school.
For the past 14 years I have been a reading help volunteer, working with children aged eight to 10.
On several occasions I have had to recommend that a child has an eyesight test and this has led to the provision of glasses.
