IT WAS with amazement that I viewed the scene in Abbey Park in Abingdon.
It was the first sunny day for months, the first day of the school holidays and the area around the water fountain feature fast filling with families with small children looking forward to cooling off and having fun in the water.
Unbelievably, though, the fountains were not working. Was it really beyond those at Vale of White Horse Council in charge of this park to ensure that all was in working order?
Does Abingdon Town Council feel no responsibility for this wonderful asset that the town has?
Would it not help to revitalise the town centre if visitors using the park found everything in working order and felt inclined to return? I continue to be fascinated as to exactly how my council tax is spent.
