THIEVES have stolen lead worth about £700 from the roof of Langdale Hall in Witney.
Police said the criminals climbed up scaffolding to get on to the building’s roof and steal the metal.
The theft happened between July 13 and 16 and no arrests have yet been made.
Witney Town Council, which owns the Langdale Gate building, finished a £45,000 revamp of the hall in January.
The project saw the hall redecorated throughout, improved disabled, kitchen and toilet facilities built and a new stage installed.
Town council member Toby Morris said: “The theft is disgusting and it shows complete disregard for public property.
“It is the taxpayers of Witney who are the victims of this.”
The attack follows £1,000 worth of damage, including wrecking a ball finial, at the Corn Exchange in May when vandals climbed on to the roof.
Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
