EAST Oxford Community Centre was lit up with the colours of Africa at a celebration day.
Traditional dancers and food was laid on as the centre played host to a day of Acholi culture on Saturday.
Grace Rwot-Lakica, 31, of Rose Hill, said: “We had about 300 turn up from all backgrounds and it was nice to see people come together.
“The culture here in the UK is very different from in Uganda so it is difficult to get together but everything about the Acholi is about togetherness.”
The Acholi tribe is originally from northern Uganda but Ms Rwot-Lakica said there was a significant community in Oxford. People came to the community event from across Oxfordshire and beyond, and Miss Uganda UK turned up as well.
