A suspected gas leak being investigated in South Parks Road looks more likely to be odours from cleaning products.
The road remains closed off and Oxford University buildings were evacuated earlier this evening after reports of the smell of gas.
But Southern Gas Network said the odour could have been connected to cleaning fluids.
The road remains closed as final checks are completed in conjunction with the fire service.
