STAYING active over the summer will be child’s play in Oxford thanks to a city council initiative.

The authority has announced its programme of “street sports” summer activities across the city.

This year the selection of activities will include skater hockey, street soccer, basketball, urban cricket and dodgeball. They will be based at street sports cages in Northway, Rose Hill, Cutteslowe, Wood Farm, Regal, Hollow Way, Botley, Barton and Fry’s Hill.

Council board member for parks and sports, Mark Lygo, said: “This is a great opportunity for young people in the city to remain active over the summer holidays.

“It is something different for them to enjoy and it gives them the opportunity to mix with young people from other schools and areas.”

The sessions are open to young people aged between eight and 18.
