Protesters gathered outside an Oxford petrol station to voice concerns about Shell’s plans to drill in the Arctic.
Greenpeace organised protests across the country on Saturday, including a demonstration at London Road, Headington.
Organiser Ingrid Royle said: “We got a lot of support, which was encouraging.
“We’re very concerned the region is far too fragile to risk a spill.”
Shell has said the Arctic holds 30 per cent of the world’s undiscovered natural gas and 13 per cent of its oil and that drilling in the Arctic “could be essential” for future energy supplies.
