CORNMARKET Street was cordoned off as police attended to a man at the top of St Michael at the North Gate tower.
Thames Valley Police said officers were called at 4.50pm and cordoned off the street. A spokesman said the man came down the tower and officers left at about 6.10pm.
Traders told The Oxford Mail a man was sat on the edge of the building with his feet hanging over the edge.
