POLICE will be out in force in Bicester on Friday to give advice to people about preventing burglaries.

Residents will get a chance to find out how better to secure their homes and information about Neighbourhood Watch.

Part of the force’s Don’t Get Burnt This Summer campaign, officers will be in Sheep Street from 9am to noon.

Sergeant Nicki Entwistle, of Bicester police station, said: “Neighbourhood Watch brings communities together to tackle problems like burglary and it can encourage a sense of security among you and your neighbours by knowing that you are all looking out for each other.

“The main benefit of joining is that members are less likely to be a victim of crime as they are more aware of local problems and how to prevent them. Members receive regular information about local incidents and crime prevention tips and some insurers offer a discount on home contents insurance if you are part of a scheme.”
