A POPULAR swimming pool should be allowed to open later, a council report says.
Chinnor Community Swimming Pool, in Station Road, has applied to open from 8.30am to 7.30pm in the week, from 9.30am to 4.30pm on Saturday and 10.30am to 4.30pm on Sunday.
Nineteen letters of support have been sent to Oxfordshire County Council – which will make the decision. There was one letter of objection.
County council planning officer Martin Tugwell’s report said it was “regrettable” the pool management committee has installed lighting without seeking the consent of the planning authority.”
But he said: “This swimming pool is an established facility and the longer hours of use would enable the nearby community to continue to use it.”
The county council will decide on Monday, July 9, at County Hall, Oxford, at 2pm.
