PREGNANT women and new mums were given a wealth of information about breast feeding.
Local nurses set up a stall in Sheep Street decorated with posters and balloons to advocate breast is best.
The idea of the day was to make people more aware of breast feeding and what support services were available in the town, including a weekly breast feeding cafe at the Children’s Centre, at Brookside School, off Queens Avenue.
Organiser Lynne Wiggington, pictured, said: “We were raising awareness. We also chatted with a couple of pregnant women to let them know what’s out there.”
l Breastfeeding mothers are set to descend on Abingdon town centre tomorrow to celebrate National Breastfeeding Awareness Week. The mothers from South Abingdon Children’s Centre will be outside Costa Coffee in Market Square from 11am to help raise the profile of breastfeeding.
