Sir – In response to John Tanner’s letter of June 21 I would answer that it would be a disaster for the county should there be a Labour majority next year. I have not forgotten that due to the financial failure of the previous Labour Government, national debt rose to over £1,000,000,000,000.
I also note that the Labour-run city council charges the most in council tax across the county, over three times the amount charged by the Conservative-run West Oxfordshire District Council. That’s what I call a disaster.
I will be concentrating my efforts on trying to solve the traffic issues in Witney, I suspect Cllr Tanner’s constituents would prefer he spent his time on their issues rather than jumping on yet another band wagon.
Ian Hudspeth, Leader of Oxfordshire County Council
