Our readers may wonder why Colin Fox is blowing his trumpet about the time he spent diving on the Mary Rose (Saturday’s Oxford Mail).

The original idea was to publicise a talk about the project that I was giving at Oxford Diving Club on Thursday, June 21.

Unfortunately the article was not printed until two days after the talk, with the result that I only had an audience of 12; somewhat different to the talk I had given a few weeks previously to a packed audience at the Watermill Theatre, near Newbury, with Robert Hardy and Jon Snow (I think their presence may have boosted the numbers).

Anyway perhaps through this letter I could say that I am available to give talks about my experiences as a volunteer diver on the Mary Rose and that I do these talks to help raise money for the trust for the new museum which is planned to be opened early next year.

The museum has been funded by the National Lottery to the tune of £25m; the trust has raised £9.5m but they still need a further £500,000. Bankers with any loose change please note.
