A DECISION on the future of a sports ground in Witney could be made in October, councillors have said.

Witney Town Council has a policy of selling West Witney Sports Ground in Burford Road to fund new facilities across the town.

But a change in leadership at the authority has seen a new willingness to look again at the plan.

Councillor Ben Woodruff, West Witney Enhancing Sports Facilities Working Party member, attended a West Witney Sports and Social Club committee meeting toconsult with users on West Witney’s future on June 13.

The meeting included representatives from the social club, Tower Hill Football Club and West Witney’s gun, range and tennis clubs.

He said: “It was a useful meeting and has kick-started a new relationship between the town council and the users of West Witney.

“The general consensus was unanimously that they would like to stay at West Witney Sports Ground. Not one single person wanted to move.
