SUSAN Allen (the head of consumer relations for NatWest Bank) appearing on BBC Radio 4’s Money Box Live programme on Saturday, was asked whether the costs incurred by those calling the bank’s customer hotline via an 0845 number, during the current crisis in accessing accounts, would be refundable.

There was then a long pause.

“If that’s a problem for people, then...”, etc etc.

Ms Allen clearly had no idea that 0845 numbers are chargeable (at some cost) to callers.

Her gaffe disqualifies her from ‘customer relations’ work.

Arrogance and ignorance.
