Good Samaritans are alive and well in Oxford.
My wife and I were lost in the city after we had unfortunately booked a hotel near the Kassam Stadium.
We were headed back to the hotel by bus, but our driver had no idea where the hotel was and he let us out about 10 stops too early. We headed in what we thought was the right direction and after a while we asked a man on a bicycle directions.
He stopped to help, but stopping caused him to drop a bag that had a beer in it.
The poor chap moved on before I had the presence of mind to give him money to buy another.
We moved on and later asked a couple of ladies for directions.
They told us how to get where we wanted and they went on their way walking.
But a few minutes later they pulled up beside us in a car and drove us to our hotel.
Thank you good Samaritans!
