OXFORDSHIRE’S nostalgic flight festival has announced a salivating new partnership with Jamie Oliver’s catering company.

Jamie Oliver’s Fabulous Feasts, based in Bicester, has been announced as the sole caterer for Fly to the Past.

It will be providing plane enthusiasts with everything from British burgers to hearty stews.

Mark Flint, of Fabulous Feasts, said: “We really are excited to be taking part in Fly to the Past. We do try to be part of the community.

“The values of Fly to the Past tie in with us very well because they focus on British themes.

“In terms of our food the emphasis is placed very much on sourcing fresh, local food and knowing where our food is coming from.

“We like to have a rustic, British, picnic style.”

Festival-goers can expect everything from roast meat baps to sticky sausage stew as well as pies.

There will also be a range of hospitality packages on offer which feature breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea.

Fabulous Feasts was set up by Jamie Oliver two years ago when he started a partnership with Bicester-based fruit and veg distributor Fresh Direct, which is run by Nigel Harris.

The company has been based in the town since then.

Show producer Francis Rockliff said the fact the company was local attracted them to it.

He said: “They came to us and wanted to take part in the show so we were really flattered.

“We didn’t want it to be food that you usually get at live events. The passion Nigel and Jamie have for what they do is great and that matters more than anything.

“Nobody else is doing what Fly to the Past is doing. There is an emotional dynamic between our two companies.”

  • Fly to the Past will take place at Oxford Airport in Kidlington on Saturday, September 1, and Sunday, September 2, and will feature flyovers charting the history of aviation, from simple biplanes through to fighters from both world wars and modern-day jets.
