PEOPLE convicted of offences at magistrates' courts around the county recently:

James Ewins, 29, of Stanway Road, Oxford, admitted using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress in Oxford on February 4. Given a 12-month conditional discharge and told to pay £85 costs.

Julie Grant, 40, of Webbs Close, Wolvercote, admitted shoplifting a £12 handbag and £7 purse from Claire’s Accessories and sponge scourers, trainer liners, shampoo, coasters, cosmetic brushes, chocolate, toilet roll and deodorant, all valued at £1 each, from Poundland in Oxford on January 31. Given a 12-month conditional discharge and told to pay £85 costs.

Samuel Pearson, 21, of Vintner Road, Abingdon, convicted of causing actual bodily harm in Oxford on September 22. Given a 12-week jail term, suspended for a year, with a year’s supervision. Also told to pay £250 compensation and £450 costs.

Grahame Brind, 54, of Brunel Crescent, Grove, admitted drink-driving in Milton Lane, Steventon, on February 24. Had 96 milligrams of alcohol in 100ml of blood, above the legal limit of 80 milligrams. Fined £250, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs. Banned from driving for three years.

Leanne Cook, 24, of Knights Road, Oxford, admitted using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause a fear of unlawful violence in Oxford on February 4. Fined £200, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs. Also told to pay £50 compensation.

Nikki-Louisa Kelly, 23, of Horder Road, London, admitted using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause a fear of unlawful violence in Oxford on February 4. Fined £320, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs. Also told to pay £100 compensation.

Jamie Lewis, 25, of Alcolida Homes, Cyprus, admitted using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause a fear of unlawful violence in Oxford on February 4. Fined £500, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs. Also told to pay £100 compensation.

Robert Wells, 34, of Bursill Close, Oxford, admitted destroying a window valued at about £87 at the Britannia pub in Oxford on March 2. Given a 12-month conditional discharge and instructed to pay £87 compensation and £85 costs.

Lynette McLaughlan, 25, of St Gabriels, Wantage, admitted criminally damaging a window in Uffington on February 5. Given a 12-month conditional discharge and told to pay £50 compensation and £50 costs.

Ian Dunlop, 24, of Sawpit Road, Oxford, admitted burgling Phillips Tyres in Oxford of a money box on January 30. Given a two-month curfew and told to pay £20 compensation and £25 costs.

Craig Hancock, 22, of Van Diemans, Stanford-in-the-Vale, admitted using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress and possessing cannabis (Class B) in Wantage on March 24. Fined £300, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs.

Adam Janes, 19, of Berrycroft, Abingdon, admitted being drunk and disorderly in Abingdon Market Place on March 24. Fined £100 and a £15 victims’ surcharge.

Andrew Shufflebotham, 20, of Cotman Close, Abingdon, admitted being drunk and disorderly in Abingdon Market Place on March 24. Fined £50 and a £15 victims’ surcharge.

Frances Bensley, 53, of Norton Road, Woodley, Berkshire, admitted drink- driving on the M40 at Adderbury on April 29. Had 64 micrograms of alcohol in 100ml of breath, above the legal limit of 35 micrograms. Fined £300, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs. Banned from driving for 18 months.

Stephen Cheetham, 52, of Upperwood Road, Darfield, Barnsely, South Yorkshire, admitted drink-driving on the A361 at Bloxham on April 28. Had 47 micrograms of alcohol in 100ml of breath, above the legal limit of 35 micrograms. Fined £110, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs.

Ryan Fry, 20, of Hughes Close, Charlbury, admitted using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress in Witney on April 29. Fined £175, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs.

James Goddard, 21, of Chetwode, Banbury, admitted using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress in Banbury on April 29. Fined £100, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs.

Raymond Howard, 42, of Samuelson Court, Banbury, admitted using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause a fear of unlawful violence in Banbury on April 26. Given an eight-week curfew and told to pay £85 costs.

James Juste, 27, of Waterford Road, Witney, admitted using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress in Witney on April 29. Fined £175, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs.

Christopher Marsh, 35, of Partons Road, Birmingham, admitted stealing a car battery in Banbury and possessing cannabis (Class B) on April 24. Given a 12-month conditional discharge and fined £50, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £30 costs.

Matthew Jakes, 23, of Glamis Place, Banbury, admitted shoplifting a £2.30 sandwich from Co-op in Banbury on December 8 and possessing ketamine (Class C) in Banbury on March 10. Given a 12-month conditional discharge and told to pay £2.30 compensation and £100 costs.

Owen Brown, 45, of Bolsover Road, Sheffield, admitted using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress in Bicester on January 21 and assault by beating in Banbury on December 17. Fined £185, two £15 victims’ surcharges, £100 costs and £100 compensation.

Stephen Turner, 42, of Whimbrel Way, Banbury admitted assaulting Andrew Brock causing actual bodily harm in Banbury on December 4 2011. Community order made requiring a six-week curfew and a condition he remain at another address in Whimbrel Way.

Ryan Daly, 34, of Partridge Chase, Bicester, admitted drink-driving on the A41 towards Bicester on April 15 where he had 81 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. Fined £370, told to pay victim surcharge of £15 and £85 costs and banned from driving for 20 months, reduced by five months if a course is taken.
