THESE Oxford primary school children are yet to sit their Key Stage Two tests.
But this week they have been setting their sights much further to the future with a special event at Oxford Brookes University.
The university has been working with six city primary schools in a bid to raise children’s aspirations to university early, with youngsters from Pegasus Primary School, Blackbird Leys, taking part in a day of events yesterday.
Ali Chandler, schools and colleges liaison adviser, said: “It’s about introducing the concept of higher education to younger children.”
The theme was time capsules – the idea being that after a string of activities introducing the youngsters to different subjects and parts of the university, they would be presented with a ‘capsule’ containing their career plans.
Esinam Afanu, 10, said it was her first visit to a university. She said: “It was fantastic. I liked the campus tour.”
