I bought my son and his partner tickets to see Derren Brown in his Svengali May tour at the Aylesbury Waterside Theatre.

These tickets were bought at the beginning of January, so that I could secure front row tickets, which I successfully did.

The show was on Monday and at 5pm (just two-and-a-half hours before the performance) I received a phone call from the theatre ticketing manager to say that unfortunately his seats were no longer available, due to the fact that steps had to be erected leading up to the stage.

My son was downgraded to row L of the stalls. This was something that just shouldn’t have happened.

We were assured that we would get a refund on the price difference (£7.50 per ticket) a free ice cream, drink and programme.

None of this made up for the disappointment of the seating.

Aylesbury Waterside Theatre blamed the situation on the production team of Derren Brown.

He may be acclaimed for being an illusionist at the top of his field, but I can tell you I was nothing but disillusioned by the whole saga.
