TALKING flowers were just one of many strange encounters for Alice in Lewis Carroll’s famous children’s stories.
Now youngsters from an Oxford primary school have visited the Botanic Garden to recreate an episode from Alice through the Looking Glass.
Pupils from Emmanuel Christian School in Littlemore, including 11-year-olds Hellen Jackson, Jonathan Akande and Estelle Henry, visited the Botanic Garden yesterday to prepare for a special recording project, which will involve their voices coming out of fake flowers during Alice’s Day on July 7.
Jonathan, who lives in Oxford, said: “I think the talking flowers will be really cool.”
Garden education officer Leah Whitcher said: “The pupils came down to see the recording devices and the fake flowers and how they will work.
“When people press a black button on the flowers the voices will be activated and then visitors will be directed from flower to flower.”
