OXFORD: A flat caught fire after a householder left food cooking in a microwave and went out.
Two fire engines were called to the fire in Bath Street on Friday, at 3pm.
Smoke was billowing from the windows of the first-floor flat and a smoke alarm was sounding.
Firemen wearing breathing apparatus entered the flat and put out the fire. The flat was left heavily smoke-damaged.
Team leader Nick Brown said: “Never leave cooking unattended for any reason.”
