THOUSANDS of people are expected to descend on a park in Thame this weekend for an annual charity festival.

Music in the Park will attract about 3,000 people to Elms Park in the town centre, as live bands, singers and dancers take over the town for nine hours.

Last year’s first event raised more than £7,000 for the Friends of Elms Park and attracted about 1,800 people.

Committee chairman Nigel Champken-Woods said: “Last year we organised the whole thing in less than three months and we were only expecting about 500 people.

“But they kept on coming through the doors. We ran out of beer and then at 3pm, I had to run over to Waitrose to buy more toilet roll.

“It was such a good day. And, if the weather holds out, hopefully this year will be even better.”

Headlining are The Original Rabbit Foot Spasm Band, alongside Elton John, Led Zeppelin and Dire Straits tribute acts.

Tickets cost £6 in advance and £8 on the door musicinthepark.org.uk
