DADS, uncles and brothers are being asked to get themselves checked out at a special men’s health event in Rose Hill, Oxford.

The monthly health bus initiative will be concentrating on the conditions that affect men in a one-off day on Saturday, June 9, to coincide with Men’s Health Week.

Male visitors will be shown how to examine themselves to keep an eye out for potential problems, including testicular cancer.

There will be lots of children’s activities with youngsters encouraged to bring a male family member along to have a 'health MoT'.

It is hoped that the weekly ‘Saturdad Club’ will be able to join in the activities, giving busy dads the opportunity to get a health check.

And a personal trainer will be on hand to help men start shaping up, with organisers hoping boxercise and circuit training taster sessions will also be on the bill.

Rafael Borja – who runs Saturdad sessions in Rose Hill – supported the idea.

He said: “It’s very good – the more publicity and the more people that come along the more chance we can repeat it.

“It’s very nice for men who live around here that we have some kind of health support.”
