Headington Community Association was delighted to hear of the Messy Jam dance team’s recent success in a contest at Disneyland Paris (Oxford Mail, May 3).

It was fantastic to see these young people doing so well and for some of them it was their first time abroad. HCA is the management committee for Headington Community Centre.

Along with managing the centre, we are here to benefit the people of the Headington area– broadly speaking the OX3 postcode area.

While the centre offers a wide range of activities and groups for our diverse community, unfortunately we offer little for the young people (10- to 17-year-olds) of the area.

We support a small cooking project working with young people in Windmill House and have actively been looking for other ways that we can benefit the young people of the area. It was for this reason that we were particularly keen to support Messy Jam.

We are still looking for people or groups working with young people in the area who we could support.

We have space available in the community centre at a reduced rate or, in some cases, free of charge and we are keen that this space is used for the benefit of young people.

We would also consider offering a small amount of financial support, for example a start-up grant.

If you think we could work with you or your group to benefit the young people of the Headington area, please email me tanyafield@supanet.com
