WITH just days to go until the 30th annual Oxfordshire Artweeks festival starts, two artists have particular reason to celebrate.
For the first time, grandmother Caroline O’Connor and her grandson Will, are exhibiting together.
They will be displaying their paintings for members of the public to drop round and view in Headington.
Mr O’Connor, 25, said: “When we were growing up and we played round at my grandmother’s house, we were always getting the paints out. She definitely started me off so this is a bit of a celebration of that.”
Mrs O’Connor, who is now 90, has painted more than 300 works.
Her grandson said: “I do illustrations and I’m in my second year of an illustrations course, doing childrens’ books and things like that.
“Our exhibition will be a bit of a mixture really.”
Oxfordshire Artweeks, which starts on Saturday and runs until May 27, features more than 500 free exhibitions and events – see the website artweeks.org for details.
- To see the work of the O’Connors, visit 31 Staunton Road in Headington between noon and 6pm from May 12-20.
