BURMA’S opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi will visit the UK this summer, with a return to the city where she used to live.
The pro-democracy figure will conduct a short European tour in June, her first trip outside Burma for 24 years.
She attended Oxford University in the 1970s and was married to Oxford don Michael Aris. She will be returning to the city as part of her trip.
The invite was extended by Prime Minister and Witney MP David Cameron during his visit to Burma last week.
The Nobel laureate spent years under house arrest while Burma was ruled by a military junta and has previously refused to leave Burma for fear that she would not be allowed to return.
