A DRUNKEN motorist who hit two parked cars while being pursued through Oxford by police has been locked up.

Aiden Davies, who was arrested when his trousers fell down as he fled the scene, had cocaine in his system and was nearly three times the drink-drive limit as he sped through Headington and Wood Farm.

The 20-year-old, from Barton Village Road, was sentenced at Oxford Crown Court yesterday having earlier admitted dangerous driving, drink-driving, driving without a licence, driving without insurance, and failing to stop when required to do so by a policeman.

He had 104 micrograms of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The limit is 35mg.

Prosecutor Toyin Salako said Davies was maintaining a speed of about 50mph as he weaved and swerved through built-up streets.

When finally arrested, he told officers: “I wasn’t driving, you can’t prove it.”

Lucy Ffrench, defending Davies, who has 33 previous offences, said her client had not drunk since the incident.

She said: “He does appear genuinely to have thought about the potential implications and, indeed, the potential fatalities.”

Recorder John Hardy sentenced Davies to eight months’ youth detention and banned him from driving for two years.

He told him: “The public would lose all confidence in the courts if I did not impose a custodial sentence.”
