I read that sets of traffic lights costing £150,000 each are costing another £2,000 to install.
UKIP policy is to provide local taxpayers with the opportunity to veto or approve major projects sanctioned by councils, offering them a binding referendum on all major projects such as these.
Just as with central government, it is unacceptable for people elected to represent the taxpayer to incur huge expenditure without any further reference to the electorate, and then raid the electorate’s pocket when it comes to picking up the bill.
