Sir – The rationale for the current changes in school status is often stated as being the need to increase the diversity in school ‘ownership’ so as to give parents more choice. Unfortunately the reality will now be, when (not if) Cheney School (City secondary school may become academy, March 15) is bamboozled into becoming a ‘converter academy’ (= ‘Government school’), that there will be no locally accountable community secondary school for parents to choose to send their children to in the city of Oxford.
