I WAS interested to see two letters recently in your columns headed “Atheism is obsolete”. What nonsense!

Your correspondents appear to be struggling, using specious and spurious arguments, against the obsolescence of religious stories, which so destructively, regrettably and unnecessarily divide the world.

Against the obsolescence of religious objections to evolution, the evidence is all around us for those with an open mind and ears to hear and eyes to see.

It is far better to focus instead upon the golden moral rule – do unto others as you would have them do unto you – which unites us all in guiding both religious and secular morality and which will never be obsolete.
