THE repatriation of six servicemen killed in Afghanistan will take place on Tuesday.

Sgt Nigel Coupe, from 1st Battalion The Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment, and Cpl Jake Hartley, Pte Anthony Frampton, Pte Christopher Kershaw, Pte Daniel Wade and Pte Daniel Wilford, all from 3rd Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment, died last Tuesday.

They were on patrol on the border of Helmand province when the Warrior armoured fighting vehicle they were travelling in hit an improved explosive device.

The plane carrying their bodies will land at RAF Brize Norton at about 1.30pm.

The cortege will pass the memorial garden on the edge of Carterton between 4.30pm and 5pm and arrive at Oxford’s John Radcliffe Hospital at about 6pm.

Oxfordshire County Council will close Cherwell Drive, between its junctions with Marston Ferry Road and Cherwell Drive, and Headley Way.

Norton Way, the site of the memorial garden, will be closed from 1pm and Station Road in Brize Norton will be closed for about 10 minutes when the cortege leaves RAF Brize Norton.
