Sir – Thank you for your piece in the March Oxfordshire Limited Edition magazine highlighting International Women’s Day on March 8, and describing the intellectual and musical achievements of Clara Schumann, Professor Susan Wollenberg at Lady Margaret Hall, and the wonderful violinist Jennifer Pike.
How unfortunate that you undermined your own good work by placing on the same page (page 55) an advert for a hair salon, claiming that “what all women really want is a mane of thick, luscious hair”!
Actually no, they don’t. What women really want is to be taken seriously and given the space and opportunity to develop their talents.
