OLLIE Weaver is one teenager who is bringing home the bacon – or should we say sausages.
The 18-year-old has been working at his local butcher’s since he began a Saturday job. aged 15 After turning full-time about a year ago the Bampton resident has now won an award for his sausage-making at Patrick Strainge Butchers.
He said: “I was offered the job and I just went with it, but I really enjoy it.
“I enjoy the technical side of it, learning how to cut an animal up and get the best out of the product.
“It’s brilliant to have won the award.
“Sausage-making isn’t as easy as people might think. There really is a science to it but my boss Patrick has been very supportive.”
Oliie won the regional best young sausage maker of the year for his Old Traditional pork sausages, at the BPEX regional roadshow in Malvern last month.
